500 East 89th Street

The first building in the Verco Properties portfolio, 500 East 89th Street was acquired by Giovanni Verni in 1946. It was the location of Verni’s Market, a family-owned grocery store, and home to his family who lived above the store. It is a classic “New York story”.

A block from Gracie Mansion, the home to the NYC Mayor, and steps from the Asphalt Green Aquatic and Community Center, 500 East 89th St. is a landmark in the Yorkville neighborhood. Today, the building is still home to a family-owned grocery store and apartments for aspiring young people just starting their careers in the big city.
